We're over 30' - no problems to report here. We have also had (previously over past 10+ yrs) a motorhome over 30' and a 5th wheel over 30'. Always found a spot for them too.

I have a Jayco now. Never should have parted with my first Jayco. The Airstreams are cool to look at (I am a hot rodder and especially like the nostalgia) but I had average quality, average dealer help, and average resale.

I have to agree with most here. It's fun to have the lights on while you are still up and outside, but we always turn off all exterior lighting when we go to bed.
On warm summer nights it's nice to sleep with the windows open, and when other campers leave their lights on all night long it gets annoying.

Julie, I didn't read his post that way. I think he said that his wife called Sears to have them repair the freezer and she was (tricked) into buying the service warranty contract when she called.
correct - she was told the only way to have them look at it was to pre-pay the $251 (which was misleading). Please understand this is what they told her when she called to schedule a service call, the refridgerator is already 4 years old. We don't purchase extended warrantees on anything. The warranty charges were reversed and we were charged $225 instead for the service.
My issues are:
1) they charged us $225 for a total of 10 mins work with $14 in parts
2) they would not do any follow up to confirm that the charges were correct or incorrect - they said we had to do that ourselves
I am not unreasonable, and I know service costs money. But $211 for service for 10 total mins of diagnosis and labor by a service tech is unreasonable.

Need to vent - taken advantage of by Sears Appliance Repair
Wow – I think I really got railed by Sears Appliance Service this weekend and need to vent my frustration.
We have a rental home that we lease out in Maricopa, AZ. Our tenants called the other day to let us know that the freezer was leaking some water. My wife called and had Sears Appliance Service handle the repair. Someone ripped her off by selling her some kind of warrantee for $251. I think they tricked her. My tenant, whom I get along very well with, called me and said they were there a grand total of 10 minutes. When I told him how much Sears charged us he about fell on the floor.
Well today we decided to call Sears. After close to 2 hours of calls (everyone pointing fingers at others there and numerous transfers and retelling the story) they said they would cancel the agreement. Wow finally a resolution I think. But then they told us that the actual service call was for $225 for ($14.83 for parts and the rest labor/service fee). So even though they were willing to cancel the fee the actual charges were almost the same as the rip-off warrantee. They basically put a heat probe in and thawed an area which freed up the drain. A simple defrost would have solved the problem.
We ultimately spoke with a customer service manager that refused to even look into the matter for us. He was only willing to give us the local shop's number to call them ourselves. They would make no inquiries or adjustments whatsoever.
We chose Sears because we thought they would back us up if anything happened like this. We were to the point, but not rude with the customer service manager. He eventually hung up on us. The service tech turned in that he was there for 45 minutes. This is a smaller town and they spend 2 days a week doing calls there, so there is no way there was 35 mins of drive time.
Sears is now on my boycott list. No more tools - no more appliances - nothing. What happened to this store that my Dad and my Grandpa used to swear by? Where is customer service these days?
edit - please note that the "warranty" was sold to my wife when she called for a service repair on a 4 year old refridgerator. It was not represented to her as a warranty, but rather a "required pre-pay fee" in order to do the work. The warranty fee was reversed. My beef with sears is an unreasonable charge of $211 labor charges for 10 mins of work and the unwillingness of customer service to investigate what we felt were unreasonable charges and confirm that we were billed correctly.

Only 5 this time - a front came through and really slowed the bite. The Crappie get pretty big here in AZ. Here's one I got 2 weeks ago (along with 42 of his friends - between 2 of us). It was almost 17" long.

One of the ways I found used units for sale was to "google" the exact model I was looking for. I searched on "Jayco Eagle 308FBS", and searched on different variations of the model number - stuff came up that I might not have found otherwise. Sometimes I would add a 2004 or 2005 in front of it in my search. Give it a try ;)
edit - also try placing a wanted ad in craigs list. I have done this many times when looking for specific items. Don't place it in the "items wanted" area, rather place it under the heading where folks list their items for sale. Many people go to Craigs List to research how much to sell their item for, or to get a ball park on trade in value. When they see that you are looking for what they are selling, you might get first crack at it (and they may sell it cheap vs. trading it in).

We have had a Eureka "Great Western 10" for about 25 years. I bought it when my wife and I were dating and we still have it. It was our 1st RV and it has seen many a camping trip and vacation. It's seen 4 people and dogs. It makes a great 2nd sleeping room when we go on long trips and invite nephews or our kids friends as well.
I just set it up this morning in the back yard to make sure all was still OK with it. I will be using it for my fishing club's "Crappie Fest" in 2 weeks because I can't tow my trailer and my boat ;-)

I tried doing the seasonal thing for a year. I finally came to the conclusion that I already have a house and property to take care of! when I go out for a weekend I want to relax! not cut grass water, flowers and clean a camper that been sitting under trees for a few mos.
I won't be doing any grass cutting or watering and my trailer sits outside 12 months a year anyway. Our storage area in Chandler was very dusty so it will be less care/cleaning where we are moving it.
I guess it all depends on the individual park but this one will help us relax. Camping spots pretty much need to be reserved in advance here in AZ unless you are boondocking. I will be set up anytime I want to go and can stay later since I don't have to break down and haul everything home to the storage area.
We'll see how we like it - this season is a test. We can always take the trailer out for a weekend or a vacation if we wanted to go somewhere else.
The convenience, reduction in effort to camp on weekends, and the option of having my camper and my boat in the same place were huge swings for us in favor of going seasonal - it wasn't just the cost.

I would like to find some storage just north of Panama City, Fl. I usually camp in Florida, so my gas mileage would double. On my trip this last weekend, I got 8.3 mpg. I will get over 15 non-towing. Should save $325 a trip (3-4 times a year) less $360 a year storage costs. We have the exact same trailer. I was surprised that our mileage is so similar.
Hey wow - we even have wives that spell Sherri the same way :B

I didn't know there was already a post about seasonal camping and I just asked a question about how seasonal sites work (in another forum) If anyone can inform me more on this topic I would greatly appreciate it.
Well, from our looking around there are many options. Some places sell campsites. Some rent/lease. We chose a park that rents the site from April 1st thru Oct 31st for $2000(7 month season). They allow us the option to keep our site or pick a new one when someone moves. If we choose to keep the camper at their park in the off season (5 months), we pay $350 and it stays there on our site thru the winter. Some sites offer free winter storage if you sign for another year, and others stay open all year round. We pay for our electrical usage on a meter. If we want a phone, it's about $20 per month. If we want wi-fi there are options ranging from daily to annual contracts. Many have various amenities. Ours is low key.

This is National Forest - no hookups - reservation required, etc... You have to sign up early and sometimes it's hard to plan in advance. It may be more like $12 but I was being conservative. A campground with hookups is always north of $20. I was just being overly conservative. We usually do a couple of full weeks too, so 28 days is probably a light estimate as well.
